History/Background Information: Scarcer of the two varieties of the gold one pond issued in 1892. Issued as the "corrected" version of the 1892 double shaft pond and one of the "big five" of ZAR coinage.

Condition Notes: Exceedingly rare and seldom found in the market place. With an unknown mintage, the frequency at which this coin appears for sale suggests a low figure. This particular piece is wholly original, with details showing only moderate wear but not heavily so. Bright residual lustre adorns the relatively clean surfaces. Firmly struck details. A rare find.
