History/Background Information: Scarcer of the two varieties of the gold one pond issued in 1892. Issued as the "corrected" version of the 1892 double shaft pond and one of the "big five" of ZAR coinage.
Certification: NGC MS62 (Choice Unc/Mint State)
Condition Notes: Exceedingly rare and seldom found in the market place. With an unknown mintage, the frequency at which this coin appears for sale suggests a low figure. This particular piece is wholly original, with fully struck and bold details. Original mint lustre adorns the delicately toned surfaces which exhibits a charming golden glow. Very rarely is the single shaft pond of 1892 offered in anything close to mint state, and this the only second offering of an unc piece that I could find in the last decade. An exceptionally rare find.
Mintage: Unknown.
POP Statistics: 5 in MS62 with only 4 coins graded finer (NGC Stats) - one of only 11 coins to grade in MS.
