History/Background Information: A beautiful gold 1 Pond struck in the ZAR in the year 1898. Struck to the same specifications as the British sovereign. Struck very shortly before the second Anglo-Boer War.

Condition Notes: A brilliant uncirculated specimen on the cusp of gem designation (65 and above). Incredibly smooth fields and devices for the issue with lustre cascading throughout. Conditionally rare in this lofty state.
