History/Background Information: A beautiful gold 1 Pond struck in the ZAR in the year 1898. Struck to the same specifications as the British sovereign. Struck very shortly before the second Anglo-Boer War. 


Certification: NGC MS65 (Gem Unc/MS) - Second Finest Known


Condition Notes: A gem uncirculated specimen and one of only a handful speciments to achieve gem designation (65 and above). Incredibly smooth fields and devices for the issue with lustre cascading throughout. Incredible coloration results in a rich golden hue. Conditionally rare in this lofty state.
