History/Background Information: 50 Pound Pretoria issue of the ZAR government (Gouvernements Noot). Issued against the security of state owned farms with a 6% interest. Hand signed by the Auditor General (JS Marais) and Treasurer General (NS Malherbe). Dated 28.5.1900.

Condition Notes: Variety with spade border and with "NO" in the serial number. An impressive example in condition closer to XF than VF. Retaining all the bold characteristics of the type. Seldom offered. A beautiful note with an incredible history.
